Amazon FBA Package Design Tips

Last Updated on October 6, 2022 by Jay Clover

Since we are a true private label seller we will need to brand our product with our unique design! ?The days of simply importing products from Alibaba and selling them as of are over.

One of the best ways to stand out from competitors is to have eye-catching packaging!

Die cut

Before we get started with our package design will need to know the dimensions of our packaging. We do this by requesting our die cut from our supplier.

The die cut will be the template for our design. It is simply put a laid-out version of our box packaging.

Time to design!

If you are an expert with Photoshop you will have a blast designing your own packaging. However, if you are like most of us you are probably better of hiring a pro for this job. Your design will be seen by thousands of people and a great design will be the difference if a customer will click on your product or your competitors! For this reason, I rather invest a couple of hundred dollars for a pro to do the design.

We have a couple of options when hiring a packaging designer:

  • Jungle Market (Our recommendation)

  • Fiverr Freelance market place (Good budget solution)

Package requirements

There are a couple of things required on your packaging:

  • Barcode
Which we have created in our previous step

  • “Made in China”
Since we will be importing from China it is required to put the “Made In China” line on our packaging.

  • (Situational) Age restriction warning
If for example, you are manufacturing a toy product. You are required to put age restrictions on your product. You can find more info about this here.

  • (Situational) Poly-bags
If you use plastic bags (TPP), make sure to ask if there are choke warnings printed on the bag.

Amazon requires all poly-bagged units with a 5-inch opening or large to have the following warning label:

Warning: To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children. Do not use this bag in cribs, beds, carriages, or playpens. This bag is not a toy.

Other than that we are free to design our packaging however we like! I like to send my designer existing packaging that I like as inspiration and he will base my design based on this.
